Celebrating the Home of Mooch - Reasons to Visit Chipping Campden
There are many wonderful reasons to visit Chipping Campden - and we may be a little biased, but we think our shop is one of them. Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, this quintessential English market town is a place that captures the imagination and stays with you long after you leave. With its rich history, breathtaking countryside, and warm community spirit, Chipping Campden is somewhere truly special - and we feel very lucky to call it home.
Like so many Cotswold towns, Chipping Campden is celebrated for its beautiful honey-coloured limestone buildings, many of which date back to the medieval period. The town's iconic Market Hall, built in 1627, still hosts regular artisan markets to this day. Walking through the high street each morning feels like stepping gently back in time — and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Explore
Surrounded by the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, Chipping Campden is a haven for those who love the great outdoors. The famous Cotswold Way long-distance footpath runs directly through the town, offering breathtaking views and wonderful opportunities for hiking, picnicking, dog walking, and photography. Whether you're an avid walker or simply looking for a gentle afternoon stroll, the landscape here never fails to inspire.
Top tip: The stretch of the Cotswold Way from Chipping Campden towards Broadway Tower is particularly beautiful - pack a picnic and make an afternoon of it.
Experience
Throughout the year, Chipping Campden comes alive with a wonderful programme of events. The Chipping Campden Music Festival draws world-renowned classical artists to the town, whilst the annual Literature Festival celebrates the written word in the most charming of settings. The town also has deep roots in the Arts and Crafts movement, with galleries and workshops showcasing the talents of local artisans throughout the year - a tradition that feels very close to our own hearts at Mooch.
Eat
From cosy coffee shops to traditional pubs and more refined dining, Chipping Campden has something to suit every appetite. We love spending a warm summer evening enjoying a cocktail on the terrace at Huxleys, or settling in for a delicious Italian supper at Da Luigi. For a morning treat, Campden Coffee serves wonderful homemade bakes - and for something truly indulgent, the gelato is simply not to be missed.
Top tip: Many of Chipping Campden's eateries celebrate local, seasonal produce - so whatever time of year you visit, you're in for a treat.
Shop
Chipping Campden offers a beautifully curated shopping experience, with an array of independent boutiques, antique shops, and craft stores lining the high street. You'll find unique souvenirs, handmade pieces, and locally produced goods — all with the added convenience of parking directly on the high street. Alongside Mooch, the town is home to some wonderful retailers including Robert Welch Studio, Draycott Books, Organised and Inspired Homes, Fillet and Bone, and Sam Wilson, among others.
